Now That’s a Call To Action
We media folks use the term “call to action” in ad campaigns, social media initiatives, and application development. It references the point when the connection that a consumer has with a brand hopefully turns into a measurable action, like a purchase or a donation, or a posting on their Facebook wall.
Well this has nothing to do with that, but it is one of the most creative holiday decorations that I have ever seen, and definitely begs for a call to action! This prank led to this guy having to take the dummie down after 2 days because the cops told him it would cause traffic accidents, a handful of people drove their cars right into his lawn to help and started screaming.

Everyone Deserves a Snow Day
This post is a bit premature as there isn’t a single flake of snow on the ground here in Carbondale, but I thought I’d post it now so that Penn and Nate have time to forget about it by midwinter when I may need to put the following tools to use.
The theme of Copper’s new micro-site is “Everyone Deserves a Snow Day” and they provide everything you need to get the day off from work.
A Ferris-Bueller-style soundboard gives you the essential sounds to call in sick to your boss: (go to www.yoursnowday.com and click on “I’m Employed” to hear them.) Unfortunately they are all apparently made by a throaty-sounding man, so the legitimacy if I used them might be questionable.
They also provide a doctor’s note that you can download, fill out, and print to give to your boss.
Unfortunately the stamp reads “Snow Day Medical Group” so again, the legitmacy is likely to be questioned. Even if I won’t be getting any days off courtesy of Copper Mountain, the website is amusing and good example of a very creative web campaign.
Print Mag Meet iMag
The other day I asked someone why it wasn’t snowing… and they said “don’t you have an iPhone app that makes that happen?” Touche I said, Touche.
For someone who enjoys the subtle and relaxing pleasure of reading the old school way, page by page in a print mag or sorting through the sunday New York Times without having to click anything or upgrade anything or slide or press or enlarge or copy or paste or zoom, it looks like I may need to get used to the new rules because those days are over.
Check out the debut of Sports Illustrated’s iMagazine. Will be sold in 2011 with 3D glasses.
Jamaica’s One-Man Ski Team
Spyder gets behind Errol Kerr, the sole member of the Jamaican Ski Team. Born to a Jamaican father and an American mother, he grew up training around the Tahoe area. His desire to represent Jamaica at the 2010 games was not just to get a free ride to the games—he is a legitimate medal contender and most likely would have made the U.S. Skiercross team had he wanted to.

Behind the Lens with Casimiro
If you thought the life of a photojournalist was all about shooting surfers in bikinis on the beach with a really, really long lens….this video will do nothing to prove you wrong.
Steve Casimiro is certainly living the dream – he’s an accomplished journalist, photographer and blogger who regularly travels to some of the most beautiful destinations on Earth – shooting models, writing travel stories and testing the latest, cool gear along the way. His job description is the envy of j-school grads, gearheads and amateur shutterbugs everywhere.
We’ve known Steve for a long time. He’s one of the best in the biz and he’s worked damned hard to get to where he is, not to mention he’s a talented writer and a beautiful photographer. It’s awesome to see him get some exposure in front of the camera for a change in this new multi-media feature on the Nat Geo website. Check it out. Just one question, Cas, do you get to keep the 4Runner?!
